Coast Guard Rescues Bangladeshi Fisherman a Day After Boat Went Off Course

A 22-year-old Bangladeshi fisherman, stranded at sea for a day after his boat went off course, was rescued by the Indian Coast Guard near the India–Bangladesh Maritime Boundary Line.

The Indian Coast Guard rescued 22-year-old Bangladeshi fisherman Abdul Manna, who was found drifting at sea after his boat made a sudden manoeuvre near the India–Bangladesh Maritime Boundary Line (IMBL). Coast Guard ShipKamla Devi, on patrol, spotted Manna struggling in the water on Sunday and recovered him using a lifebuoy.

Abdul Manna told authorities he survived by swimming until being spotted by the Coast Guard vessel. He was later handed over to the Bangladesh Coast Guard shipPadmaat the IMBL, following protocols under the MoU between the Indian and Bangladesh Coast Guards for coordinated search-and-rescue operations.
