Class VIII Hostel Student Dies in Rayagada, Family Alleges Negligence by School Authorities

A Class VIII girl staying at a government hostel in Rayagada district died after falling ill, with doctors declaring her dead at a local health centre.Her family has alleged negligence, claiming school authorities failed to inform them about her illness in time.

A tragic incident has been reported from Ambadala in Rayagada district, Odisha, where a Class VIII girl residing in a government-run hostel died on Monday night. The student was staying at the Government Higher Secondary School hostel under the ST & SC Development Department while pursuing her studies.

According to reports, the girl suddenly fell ill and was taken to the Ambadala Primary Health Centre. However, doctors declared her dead before admission. The exact cause of death is yet to be determined.

Her family members have alleged serious negligence on the part of the headmaster and school authorities. They claim that despite living just three kilometres away, they were not informed about their daughter’s illness, which they allege had persisted for four days. The father further stated that when they reached the school after hearing she was unwell, they were not allowed to meet her without permission.

The incident has triggered tension near the hospital, with locals demanding compensation for the family and strict action against the school authorities. Allegations have also emerged regarding attempts to suppress the inquiry. Officials are yet to release an official statement on the matter.
