A tragic incident has been reported from Ganjam district, where a Class 10 girl student allegedly died by suicide after appearing for her English board examination on February 21. She was a student of VV Giri Government Girls' High School and had returned home after completing her exam.
Family members alleged that she was mentally disturbed after a cheat sheet was reportedly found near the exam centre gate, following which teachers accused her of malpractice and scolded her. They claimed she was warned that she could be barred from exams for several years, which deeply affected her.
However, the school headmistress Chandini Panda denied the allegations, stating that no malpractice was reported and the exam was conducted smoothly. She assured that CCTV footage would be reviewed and action would be taken if any staff member was found responsible.
The incident has raised serious concerns about exam pressure and student mental health during board examinations.
