The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has commenced the Class 10 and Class 12 board examinations from February 17. Along with the start of the examinations, CBSE has issued detailed guidelines regarding the two-board-exam system for Class 10 students. According to the clarification, students who appear in the first board examination will be eligible to sit for a second board examination to improve their scores in up to three subjects, including Science, Mathematics, Social Science, and Languages.
However, students who do not appear in the first board examination will not be allowed to take the second examination and may be placed in the essential repeat category, requiring them to appear in the next academic year. Students who receive a compartment result in the first examination will be allowed to appear in the second examination under the compartment category as per CBSE rules.
As per the official examination schedule, on the first day Class 10 students are appearing for Mathematics (both Standard and Basic), while Class 12 students are taking examinations in subjects such as Biotechnology and Entrepreneurship. CBSE has released notifications and instructions to ensure that students clearly understand eligibility criteria, improvement opportunities, and examination procedures.
