Bhubaneswar: Doctors at CARE Hospitals, Bhubaneswar successfully saved the life of a 25-year-old patient suffering from a rare and life-threatening heart condition, Acute Aortic Dissection.

The patient was rushed to the emergency department with sudden severe chest pain. Rapid diagnostics confirmed a tear in the aorta, requiring immediate surgical intervention. A skilled Cardiothoracic and Vascular Surgery (CTVS) team led by Dr. Suvakanta Biswal, supported by Dr. Somen and a dedicated team, performed emergency open-heart surgery with assistance from the Cardiac Anaesthesia team led by Dr. Manoranjan Padhi and Dr. Dharmajeevan.

Dr. Biswal said, “Every minute counts in acute aortic dissection. Early recognition, quick coordination, and timely surgical intervention were key to saving the patient’s life.”

The patient recovered steadily and was discharged in stable condition on the sixth post-operative day.
