Coordinated Baloch Rebel Attacks in Pakistan Kill Dozens, Escalating Balochistan Conflict

Baloch rebels launched coordinated attacks across 12 cities in Balochistan, Pakistan, targeting security forces and infrastructure. At least 70 militants and 10 security personnel were killed in the deadliest single-day assault in decades. The violence highlights long-standing grievances over autonomy, resource control, and political marginalization in the resource-rich province.

Balochistan, Pakistan’s largest but least developed province, witnessed a wave of coordinated attacks by the Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) across 12 districts, including Quetta, Gwadar, and Makran. The rebels targeted security installations and infrastructure, killing dozens and prompting counter-operations by Pakistani forces.

The insurgency, rooted in historical grievances over political representation, autonomy, and control of natural resources, has intensified in recent years, especially around China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) projects. While Pakistan blames foreign involvement, separatists argue their campaign represents local resistance to exploitation.
