Balochistan, Pakistan’s largest but least developed province, witnessed a wave of coordinated attacks by the Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) across 12 districts, including Quetta, Gwadar, and Makran. The rebels targeted security installations and infrastructure, killing dozens and prompting counter-operations by Pakistani forces.
The insurgency, rooted in historical grievances over political representation, autonomy, and control of natural resources, has intensified in recent years, especially around China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) projects. While Pakistan blames foreign involvement, separatists argue their campaign represents local resistance to exploitation.
