Dense Fog Engulfs Odisha as Cold Wave Eases, Disrupting Morning Life

As cold wave conditions ease in Odisha due to a western disturbance, dense fog has emerged as a major concern. Several regions, including Puri, witnessed extremely low visibility, disrupting traffic and daily activities.

Odisha experienced partial relief from cold wave conditions under the influence of a western disturbance, but dense fog posed fresh challenges across the state. Early Wednesday morning, thick fog reduced visibility to a few metres, severely affecting road traffic and public movement. Highways and city roads were blanketed in mist, forcing motorists to drive cautiously.

Puri presented a rare दृश्य as dense fog completely covered the holy town. The Shree Jagannath Temple, including its spire and Neelachakra flag, remained invisible for hours, creating an unusual and striking sight. Weather experts attributed the fog formation to increased moisture and calm wind conditions despite a slight rise in minimum temperatures. Authorities have urged commuters to stay alert during early morning travel due to the risk of accidents.
