An all-party meeting will be held on Monday ahead of the commencement of the Budget Session of the Odisha Legislative Assembly, scheduled to begin on Tuesday, February 17.
The Speaker has convened the meeting at 11:30 am on the Assembly premises to ensure the smooth and orderly conduct of the session. During the meeting, the Speaker is expected to seek cooperation from both the ruling party and the Opposition. The agenda and business schedule for the upcoming session are also likely to be discussed.
The Budget Session will be conducted in two phases from February 17 to April 8, comprising a total of 28 working days. The session will begin with the Governor’s address to the House.
On February 20, Chief Minister and Finance Minister Mohan Majhi will present the State Budget for the 2026–27 financial year. Following the presentation, discussions on the demands for grants of various government departments will be taken up in the House.
Meanwhile, the Opposition parties — Biju Janata Dal (BJD) and Indian National Congress — are scheduled to hold separate legislature party meetings to chalk out their strategies for the session.
Sources indicate that the Opposition is likely to raise key issues such as paddy procurement and the Mahanadi river dispute during the proceedings.
The ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is also expected to conduct internal meetings to strategise and prepare its responses during the Budget Session.
