Ahmed Shehzad, former Pakistan cricketer, has openly criticised India’s coach Gautam Gambhir, claiming that his political stint as a Member of Parliament from East Delhi (2019–24) has affected his approach to team management. Speaking on Haarna Mana Hai, Shehzad highlighted that Gambhir’s selection decisions during the T20 World Cup Super 8 stage, including opting for Washington Sundar over Axar Patel and limited use of Kuldeep Yadav, have hurt team dynamics and performance.
Shehzad also speculated that Kuldeep’s exclusion may relate to a disciplinary issue with captain Suryakumar Yadav, although both players dismissed any rift publicly. The criticism comes amid mounting pressure on Gambhir after India’s loss to South Africa, putting their semi-final chances at risk. India is set to play Zimbabwe in their next Super 8 match on February 26, with attention on whether the team adjusts under current leadership.
