When New Zealand toured India for the 2024 Test series, the hosts were riding high under Gautam Gambhir, yet the Blackcaps stunned India with a historic 3-0 whitewash. Fast forward to 2026, and New Zealand again surprised India in the ODI series, claiming their first-ever series win on Indian soil, led by Daryl Mitchell’s stellar performances.

Attention now shifts to the T20I series, where New Zealand aim to complete the trifecta. The Kiwis enter with a young yet powerful lineup, featuring Devon Conway, Tim Robinson, Daryl Mitchell, Glenn Phillips, Mark Chapman, Kyle Jamieson, and Jacob Duffy. Despite missing explosive openers Finn Allen and Tim Seifert, the team boasts depth in batting and a disciplined bowling attack.

Jacob Duffy and Matt Henry form a potent pace duo, while Mitchell Santner’s all-round abilities and past T20I success in India add further threat. Historically, New Zealand has often been a challenging opponent for India, winning the first five T20Is between the sides and pushing the hosts in several high-stakes matches, including ICC tournaments.

India, led by Suryakumar Yadav, face added pressure as the Blackcaps aim to end a 14-year wait for a T20I series victory in India. With a balanced squad combining experience, power hitting, and tactical bowling, New Zealand are expected to challenge the hosts in every match of the five-game series.
