Adani Group to Invest $100 Billion in AI-Ready Green Data Centres by 2035

Adani Group plans a $100 billion investment to build green-powered, AI-ready data centres, aiming to make India a global AI and cloud computing hub. The initiative could catalyse a $250 billion AI ecosystem, expanding national data centre capacity and fostering partnerships with Google and Microsoft.

Adani Group has announced an ambitious plan to invest $100 billion by 2035 to build green-powered, AI-ready data centres in India, aiming to establish the country as a global leader in artificial intelligence and cloud computing. The project is part of the group’s vision to create India’s sovereign AI backbone, which it calls the “Intelligence Revolution.”

According to filings by Adani Enterprises Ltd., this direct investment is expected to spur an additional $150 billion across related sectors over the next decade. These include server manufacturing, advanced electrical infrastructure, sovereign cloud platforms, semiconductors, and compute ecosystems, potentially building a $250 billion AI infrastructure ecosystem in India.

Billionaire Gautam Adani said that the world is entering a transformative Intelligence Revolution, and nations that align energy and compute will define the future. India, with its strong green energy and technology base, is well-positioned to lead.

Expansion of National Data Centre Capacity

The plan builds on AdaniConnex’s existing 2 GW national data centre network, targeting expansion to 5 GW to strengthen India’s position in the global AI economy.

Strategic partnerships are a key component of the roadmap. Adani has partnered with Google to develop a gigawatt-scale AI data centre campus in Visakhapatnam, and with Microsoft for campuses in Noida, Hyderabad, and Pune.

The announcement also had an immediate market impact, with Adani Enterprises Ltd. shares rising up to 2.4% on Tuesday.

This investment is expected to accelerate India’s AI infrastructure, create jobs, and establish the country as a major player in the global AI and cloud computing landscape over the next decade.
