A shocking incident has been reported from Odisha’s Subarnapur district, where the body of a labourer was found buried in the soil on Sunday, triggering widespread concern in the area. The body was recovered from near Joro in Gulapada Nala under Binika police station, raising strong suspicion of murder and an attempt to destroy evidence by concealing the body underground.
According to sources, a man identified as Prakash had left his house on the evening of December 18 but failed to return. His sudden disappearance caused panic among family members, who initially searched for him in nearby areas. When Prakash remained untraceable, the family lodged a complaint at the local police station. Acting on the complaint, police launched an investigation to trace his whereabouts.
Family members have claimed that the recovered body belongs to Prakash and alleged that he was murdered. They further claimed that a few individuals had taken Prakash with them on December 18 and later murdered him before burying his body in the soil.At the time of reporting, scientific teams, dog squads and senior police officials were yet to reach the spot, after which the digging process is expected to begin. Family members of Prakash are also present at the site.
Police have cordoned off the area and detained five people in connection with the case, while several others are reportedly absconding. One of the accused has allegedly confessed to the crime. Further investigation is underway to ascertain the circumstances surrounding the death and identify all those involved.
