A joyous wedding celebration in Odisha’s Angul district turned alarming after more than 25 guests reportedly suffered from suspected food poisoning. The incident took place on Wednesday at Tubey village under Jarapada Police Station limits.
Shortly after consuming the wedding feast, several attendees began experiencing symptoms such as diarrhoea and vomiting. As their health conditions deteriorated, they sought medical attention at nearby hospitals. Around 20 individuals have been admitted to the District Headquarters Hospital in Angul, while others are receiving treatment at private medical facilities.
The Additional District Chief Medical Officer confirmed that over 15 patients are currently under medical supervision at the government hospital. Preliminary investigations suggest food poisoning as the likely cause of the sudden illnesses.
To ascertain the exact reason behind the incident, a medical team will collect food and water samples from the wedding venue for laboratory testing. Authorities stated that further action will be initiated based on the test results.
