Youth Killed, Four Injured as Car Crashes into Electric Pole in Mayurbhanj

A youth died and four others were seriously injured after their car rammed into an electric pole near Gidhibas Chhak in Mayurbhanj. Police suspect overspeeding or driver fatigue as the possible cause of the early morning accident.

A tragic road accident claimed the life of a youth and left four others seriously injured in Odisha’s Mayurbhanj district early Monday morning. The mishap occurred near Gidhibas Chhak on National Highway No. 220 under Jashipur police limits.

According to reports, five youths were travelling in a car and returning to Jashipur after attending Dola Melan in Karanjia. At around 5:00 am, the vehicle reportedly lost control and crashed into an electric pole. The impact of the collision left the car completely mangled.

Local residents rushed to the accident site and rescued the occupants from the severely damaged vehicle. However, one of the youths, who worked as a gym trainer, succumbed to his injuries shortly after being rescued. All five occupants were reportedly from a village in Jashipur.

Among the injured, one person was shifted to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack for advanced treatment, while another was referred to Keonjhar District Hospital. The remaining two are undergoing treatment at the Karanjia Sub-Divisional Hospital.

Police from Jashipur reached the spot and launched an investigation. Preliminary suspicion suggests overspeeding or possible driver fatigue may have led to the crash. Further inquiry is underway to determine the exact cause of the accident.
