A tragic incident occurred in Ahmedabad, where Yashraj Gohil, nephew of Gujarat Congress leader and Rajya Sabha MP Shaktisinh Gohil, allegedly shot his wife, Rajeshwari Jadeja, before turning the firearm on himself. The couple, originally from Bhavnagar, had been married for two months; this was the second marriage for both.
According to police reports, the incident took place on Tuesday night after the couple returned from dinner. Yashraj, a Gujarat Maritime Board officer, reportedly used a licensed firearm kept at home to shoot Rajeshwari in the back of the head, resulting in her immediate death. He then reportedly used the same weapon to take his own life.
Emergency medical personnel confirmed the deaths at the scene. Police have initiated an investigation to determine the motive behind the incident and the circumstances of how the firearm was kept at the residence. Further details will emerge as the inquiry progresses.
