West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has demanded a Supreme Court-supervised investigation into the Baramati plane crash that claimed the life of Maharashtra Deputy CM Ajit Pawar along with five others, citing concerns over the safety of political leaders and the credibility of current investigative agencies. Banerjee highlighted the need for an independent probe, questioning the circumstances of the crash amid social media speculation about Pawar’s political affiliations.
Several leaders, including Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi, RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav, and Prakash Ambedkar, have also called for a thorough and transparent investigation. The Bombardier Learjet 45, operated by VSR Ventures, crashed near the threshold of Baramati Airport after two landing attempts amid poor visibility, killing all on board.
