South Indian cinema fans are in for a treat as actors Jayaram and Urvashi reunite for the first time in nearly 20 years in a new comedy directed by Pandiraj. The celebrated pair, known for their impeccable comic timing and on-screen chemistry, have thrilled audiences in Malayalam and Tamil films such asChakkikotha Chankaran,Kadinjool Kalyanam, and the Tamil hitPanchatanthiram. Their previous collaboration in the anthologyPutham Pudhu Kaalai(2020) also earned acclaim, but this marks their first full-length feature together in two decades.
Jayaram expressed his excitement about working with Urvashi again, sharing that the filming process is filled with laughter and improvisation. “After 20 years, we are starring in a film together. Shooting is going on, but a title has not been finalised yet. It has a massively entertaining, humour-filled narrative. Each scene will take about 10–15 takes as we keep laughing in between shots. Pandiraj sir waits for us to finish laughing before shooting the next scene,” he revealed in a recent interview.
Fans can also look forward to Urvashi’s signature expressions and spontaneity. Jayaram recounted, “This film has a scene where she repeats the exact words I told her not to say, then looks at me and asks, ‘What I said was right?’ Nobody can pull off such an expression like her.” The duo’s camaraderie and improvisational style are expected to make this comedy a standout release.
While the storyline and supporting cast remain under wraps, this project is already generating excitement for its humour-filled narrative and the reunion of two beloved actors. Jayaram, who recently appeared inKantara: Chapter 1, also hasAshakal Aayiramlined up for release, while Urvashi, known forPrinceandFamily, continues to receive accolades for her work inUllozhukku, earning national and state awards.
