UP man kills wife after finding her with three men, four months into marriage

A man strangled his wife to death just four months into their marriage over suspected infidelity and confessed to the police the following day.

A young man in Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh, allegedly strangled his wife to death just four months into their marriage after claiming he found her in a compromising situation with three men, officials said. The accused, Sachin Singh, reportedly wrapped the body in a blanket and surrendered at a local police station the following day.

Sachin and his wife, Shweta Singh, had been living in a rented room for the past month. The couple had married against their families’ wishes after a long-term relationship and had legally registered their marriage.

According to Sachin’s statement to the police, he had grown suspicious of his wife’s behaviour. He alleged that while he was away for work, she developed relationships with two engineering students living nearby. Two days before the incident, he returned unexpectedly and claimed to have found his wife lying with the men, leading to an argument.

Sachin said that during the confrontation at home, his wife allegedly threatened to leave him if he did not ensure the release of the two men who had been taken to the police station earlier. In a fit of rage, he strangled her to death, wrapped her body in a blanket, and left it in the rented room. The following day, he confessed to the crime at the nearest police station.

Police officials accompanied him back to the room, where Shweta’s body was recovered. Sachin Singh has been taken into custody, and an investigation is underway. The body will be sent for post-mortem examination to ascertain the exact cause of death.

The incident has raised concerns about police procedures, with criticism that the killing might have been prevented had the accused not been released earlier. Authorities are examining all angles as part of the ongoing inquiry.
