A theft was reported from theBali Kapileswar templelocated nearMangala Ghatunder the jurisdiction ofPuri Sadar Police Stationon Tuesday.
According to information, unidentified miscreants allegedly entered the temple premises during the late hours of the night and decamped with temple idols along with the donation box kept inside the shrine.
The incident came to light early on Tuesday morning when the temple priest arrived to perform the daily rituals. Upon entering the temple, he found that the idols and the donation box were missing and immediately informed the Puri Sadar Police.
Following the complaint, police personnel reached the spot and began an investigation. Preliminary inquiries are underway to determine how the theft was carried out and to identify those responsible.
The incident has caused concern among temple authorities and devotees. Police said efforts are on to recover the stolen items and bring the culprits to justice.
