Two sisters from Puri, Anju and Manju, have made Odisha proud with their remarkable journey on the popular cooking reality showMasterChef India. Competing as a team, the duo impressed judges with their culinary expertise, consistency, and unique presentation style, earning a place among the top 12 contestants while representing the East Zone.
Their first dish on the show, Fish Wellington, surprised the judges, especially considering the sisters were in their fifties and sixties. Their confidence, teamwork, and mutual understanding played a crucial role in their success. Anju credited their strong coordination and shared decision-making for their impressive performance throughout the competition.
Beyond competition, their primary aim was to promote Odisha’s rich culinary heritage. They presented traditional Odia dishes such as Kanika, Tanka Torani, Chena Poda, and Dahibara Aloodum, drawing appreciation from the judges. Although Chena Poda could not be featured in earlier rounds, it was later tasted and praised backstage.
Following their successful stint, the sisters visited the revered Shree Jagannath Temple to seek blessings from Lord Jagannath. Their achievement has been widely celebrated in Puri, with many appreciating their efforts to bring Odia cuisine and culture into the national spotlight.
