Two separate bus accidents were reported from different parts of Odisha on Monday, one in Koraput district and another in Jagatsinghpur district. While no casualties were reported in the Koraput incident, more than 10 people were injured in the Jagatsinghpur mishap, with three passengers said to be in critical condition.
In the first incident, an OSRTC bus collided with the rear of a truck at Semiliguda in Koraput district at around 3 am. The bus was travelling from Visakhapatnam to Umerkote when the accident occurred. Fortunately, all passengers on board escaped unharmed, and no major injuries were reported.
In the second incident, a private passenger bus crashed into a house near Sampur Chhak in Jagatsinghpur district on Monday. According to reports, the bus was travelling from Paradip to Naugaon via Jagatsinghpur when the driver reportedly lost control of the vehicle. The bus veered off the road and rammed into a nearby house.
More than 10 passengers sustained injuries in the crash, and three of them were reported to be in critical condition. The injured were immediately rushed to the District Headquarters Hospital for treatment.
An eyewitness identified as Manas said the bus was travelling at high speed before the accident occurred. He stated that he saw the bus approaching at nearly 70–80 kmph before it lost control and crashed into the house. Around 40 passengers were reportedly on board at the time of the accident.
Authorities are investigating the circumstances that led to the accidents.
