The Commissionerate Police of Bhubaneswar-Cuttack has imposed temporary traffic restrictions in Bhubaneswar on March 5 and 6, 2026, in view of the visit of Union Home Minister and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah to Odisha. The dignitary is scheduled to attend multiple programmes in the city during his two-day visit.
The restrictions have been enforced to ensure the safety and security of the visiting leader while maintaining smooth traffic flow for the general public. The order has been issued under Section 28 of the Odisha Urban Police Act, 2003, and Regulation 36 of the Bhubaneswar-Cuttack Police Commissionerate (Traffic and Public Order) Regulation, 2008.
On March 5 (Thursday), vehicular movement will be restricted from 8 pm to 8:45 pm across key locations including Airport Square, Hospital Square, AG Square, Lok Bhavan Square, Power House Square, Jaydev Vihar Square and XIMB Square.
On March 6 (Friday), restrictions will be in force from 9:45 am to 10:35 am on stretches connecting Jaydev Vihar Square to CISF KRTC, Mundali, Cuttack. Additional curbs will apply from 4:30 pm to 5 pm and again from 6:30 pm to 7 pm on major city squares including Ram Mandir Square, PMG Square, Rabindra Mandap Square and Airport Square.
No vehicles will be permitted on the notified roads or connecting lanes during the specified timings, except emergency services such as ambulances and fire tenders. The Commissionerate Police has advised commuters to plan their journeys in advance, use alternate routes, and cooperate with traffic personnel to ensure smooth regulation during the visit.
