Three persons were killed and another sustained critical injuries after three motorcycles collided head-on near Hilung Chowk on the Biramaharajpur–Murshundi road in Odisha’s Sonepur district. Overspeeding is suspected to have caused the crash.

In a tragic road accident, three people lost their lives and another sustained critical injuries following a collision involving three motorcycles in Odisha’s Sonepur district on Tuesday.

The accident occurred near Hilung Chowk on the Biramaharajpur–Murshundi road. According to preliminary reports, the three motorcycles collided head-on near Murshundi Chowk, resulting in a devastating crash that left multiple riders severely injured.

Eyewitnesses alleged that one of the motorcycles was being driven at a very high speed, which is suspected to have caused the fatal collision.

Casualties Identified:

  • Agasti Bhoiof Badamal village died on the spot due to the impact.

  • Bhagaban Sethiof Hilung village sustained critical injuries and was being shifted to Rourkela for advanced treatment when he succumbed to his injuries en route.

  • Chandan Bhoiof Bankia village died while undergoing treatment at the Veer Surendra Sai Institute of Medical Sciences and Research (VIMSAR) in Burla.

Meanwhile,Shiva Jagadalaof Bankia village remains in critical condition and is currently receiving treatment at VIMSAR.

Police reached the accident site soon after being alerted and launched an investigation. The bodies of the deceased have been sent for post-mortem examination. Authorities are probing the exact cause of the crash,though overspeeding is suspected to have been a major contributing factor.
