A tragic road accident in Odisha’s Rayagada district claimed the lives of three persons and left another critically injured after two motorcycles collided head-on on Tuesday.
The accident occurred near the Durgi Jagannath Temple under the jurisdiction of Bissam Cuttack police station along State Highway No. 36. According to police sources, the impact of the collision was extremely severe, leaving the victims with critical injuries and triggering panic among local residents who rushed to the spot after hearing the crash.
Officials said that two individuals died instantly at the accident site due to the force of the impact. Another injured victim was immediately shifted to a nearby hospital for medical treatment. However, despite efforts by doctors, the victim later succumbed to injuries, raising the death toll to three.
The accident reportedly involved a head-on collision between two motorcycles travelling along the highway. The exact circumstances leading to the crash are yet to be confirmed.
Meanwhile, another person who sustained serious injuries in the mishap is currently undergoing treatment at a hospital. Doctors attending to the victim said the injured person remains in critical condition and is under close medical observation.
Upon receiving information about the accident, police personnel reached the scene, recovered the bodies and initiated an investigation. Authorities are working to determine the exact cause of the collision and whether factors such as overspeeding, negligence, or poor visibility contributed to the incident.
