Three Koraput Ashram Schoolgirls Go Missing; Police Launch Search and Rescue Them Safely

Three girl students from Borigumma Padeiguda Ashram School in the Jeypore subdivision of Koraput district were reported missing on Friday, causing panic among their families and prompting a major search operation by police. The incident surfaced after school authorities alerted parents that the children could not be located shortly after being dropped off following their Christmas break.

Parents said they had left the children at the school premises, but were later informed that the girls were untraceable. How the students managed to leave the campus without being noticed has raised concerns over the school’s internal monitoring and security protocols.

Upon receiving a formal complaint, Borigumma police immediately launched a search operation, deploying multiple teams to trace the missing students. Officers later received credible inputs from locals regarding a possible location. Acting on the tip-off, police traced the Class III students to a hut located around 2–3 km from the school.

Preliminary investigation revealed that the children had followed their parents after being dropped off and eventually lost their way, leading to their disappearance. Police safely rescued the girls and assured families that further inquiry will be conducted to examine lapses in school supervision and ensure such incidents do not recur.
