Puri Srimandir temple administration hikes parking fee to Rs 500 at four Bhakta Nivas

The Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) in Puri has revised the parking charges at its Bhakta Nivas facilities in the pilgrim town, increasing the fee for four-wheelers to Rs 500 for 24 hours, inclusive of 18 per cent GST.

As per the new order, devotees parking their four-wheelers at any of the four Bhakta Nivas managed by the Srimandir administration will have to pay the revised amount for parking their vehicles for up to 24 hours.

The enhanced parking fee will be applicable at Gundicha Bhakta Nivas, Niladri Bhakta Nivas, Purushottam Bhakta Nivas and Nilachal Bhakta Nivas.

“It has been decided that, Parking Fees of Rs.500/- (including GST 18%) per vehicle (four wheeler) for 24 hours shall hr collected from guests who park their four wheeler in the Dhakta Niwas. The Asst. Managers in-charge of Bhakta Niwas will ensure collection of the Parking Fees w.e.f.07.01.2026 until further orders,” a notification issued by the temple administration read.

The directive has been issued by the Chief Administrator of the Shree Jagannath Temple Administration. However, it remains unclear whether the decision was discussed or approved during a meeting of the temple’s managing committee.

“We were not aware of the decision. Those managing the four Bhakta Nivas may have done something. They would be in a better position to explain the parking fee hike. No discussion on increasing the parking fee was held in the managing committee meetings,” said Jagannath Pujapanda, a member of the managing committee.

The revision of the parking charges comes amid a steady rise in the number of pilgrims visiting Puri, particularly during peak seasons, when parking demand at temple-managed accommodation facilities increases significantly.
