Utkalika to Provide Ceremonial Kits for Brides Under Odisha’s Mukhya Mantri Kanya Vivah Yojana

The Odisha government has put in place a structured system to supply essential ceremonial items for beneficiaries of the Mukhya Mantri Kanya Vivah Yojana. As part of the initiative, a memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed between Utkalika and the Women and Child Development Department, in the presence of Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida.

Under the scheme, brides will receive a standardized kit of ceremonial items, including sarees, bangles, anklets, and bindis. Utkalika will source and distribute these items across the state to ensure both quality and uniformity. The decision also aims to promote Odisha’s traditional handicraft and handloom sectors, creating steady demand and supporting local artisans.

The scheme provides financial assistance of ₹51,000 per beneficiary—₹35,000 transferred directly to the bride’s bank account after marriage registration, ₹10,000 allotted for wedding gifts, and ₹6,000 earmarked for decorations.

Deputy CM Paravati Parida stated that all SOPs are finalized, and preparations for enlisted beneficiaries are underway. Marriages will involve participation from community members and voluntary organizations, while district administrations will oversee smooth implementation. Beneficiaries will receive marriage certificates, and the Chief Minister is expected to attend the ceremonies as part of the state’s flagship welfare programme.
