Indian Army Helps Late Territorial Army Officer’s Daughter Reclaim Ancestral Home in UP

The Indian Army, in coordination with the Uttar Pradesh government, helped Ms Anjana Bhatt, daughter of a late Territorial Army officer, recover her ancestral home from illegal occupation through a lawful and compassionate process, highlighting strong military–civil cooperation.

In a significant demonstration of military–civil coordination and institutional responsibility, the Indian Army, working closely with the Uttar Pradesh government, has helped Ms Anjana Bhatt reclaim her ancestral home that had been illegally occupied for years.

Ms Bhatt, the daughter of a late Territorial Army officer, had been facing prolonged personal, medical and legal challenges after anti-social elements unlawfully took possession of her ancestral property. With limited family support, she remained vulnerable and without effective recourse for an extended period.

Taking note of her situation, the Indian Army intervened under the aegis of the Central Uttar Pradesh Sub Area, describing the effort as both a moral and institutional obligation. Her welfare and safety were closely monitored while coordinated legal and administrative steps were initiated to secure justice.

Major Vishal Kanojia was formally appointed as her foster guardian to oversee and coordinate the entire process. Acting on behalf of the Army, he ensured continuous follow-up of legal proceedings, coordinated with district authorities and law enforcement agencies, and provided consistent personal support.

These sustained efforts culminated on January 1, 2026, when the illegally occupied property was peacefully vacated and lawfully restored to Ms Bhatt, in full compliance with legal procedures and with the cooperation of the civil administration.

Following the recovery, Ms Bhatt met Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath to express her gratitude for the state government’s support. Senior Army officials, including Major General Manish Kukreti, were also present. Officials said the case reflects responsive governance, effective military–civil coordination, and the Indian Army’s enduring commitment to the welfare and dignity of its personnel and their families.
