The Indian National Congress on Friday announced the appointment of district presidents in 11 districts of Himachal Pradesh, marking a major step in reviving the party’s organisational structure after a gap of over 13 months.
The appointments were approved by Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge under the party’s ‘Sangathan Srijan Abhiyan’, according to an official release issued by AICC general secretary K C Venugopal.
The decision follows detailed reports submitted by All India Congress Committee (AICC) observers, who carried out district-wise organisational reviews and held interactions with party workers and local stakeholders. These were followed by one-on-one consultations with senior party leaders before finalising the appointments.

The Congress had dissolved the Pradesh Congress Committee, along with district and block units in Himachal Pradesh, on November 6, 2024, while Pratibha Singh continued as the state party chief.
Later, Vinay Kumar was appointed as the new Himachal Pradesh Congress president on November 22, 2025, and assumed charge on November 30. He had stated that the party organisation in the state would be reconstituted within three months.
A senior Congress leader said the appointment of district presidents would help re-energise party workers, who had remained demoralised for over a year due to the absence of a formal organisational structure.
