Student Death at Kalinga Institute of Social Sciences Hostel in Bhubaneswar Raises Safety Concerns

A Plus Two Arts student was found dead inside the KISS hostel campus, prompting a police investigation. The incident has once again raised serious questions about student safety and institutional accountability.

A tragic incident has been reported at the Kalinga Institute of Social Sciences (KISS) in Bhubaneswar, founded by Achyuta Samanta, where a Plus Two Arts student was allegedly found hanging inside the hostel on Friday. The student belonged to Nuapada district, and the incident has shocked the academic community and the public.

After receiving information, the Infocity Police and a scientific team reached the campus, recovered the body, and initiated an investigation to determine the circumstances surrounding the death. The body has been sent to AIIMS Bhubaneswar for post-mortem examination, which will be conducted in the presence of the family to ascertain the exact cause of death.

This incident has once again brought attention to past allegations and student deaths reported at the institute over the years. Families of students from several districts had previously raised concerns over suspicious deaths and lack of transparency. The latest case has intensified demands for improved hostel supervision, better mental health support, and stronger accountability measures.

As of now, no official statement has been released by the institution or its authorities regarding the incident.
