Sri Lanka Crush Oman by 105 Runs in T20 World Cup 2026 Ahead of Australia Clash

Sri Lanka posted 225 runs and defeated Oman by 105 runs in Pallekele to continue their strong T20 World Cup 2026 campaign. Fifties from Kusal Mendis, Pavan Rathnayake and a record half-century from Dasun Shanaka powered the dominant win.

Sri Lanka maintained their impressive run in the T20 World Cup 2026 with a commanding 105-run victory over Oman in Pallekele on February 12. Batting first, the hosts piled up a massive total of 225 runs, powered by half-centuries from Kusal Mendis and Pavan Rathnayake, along with a record-breaking 19-ball fifty from captain Dasun Shanaka — the fastest by a Sri Lankan in T20 Internationals.

After an early setback, Mendis and Rathnayake steadied the innings with a 94-run partnership. Rathnayake’s aggressive knock, including a 24-ball maiden T20I fifty, silenced doubts about Sri Lanka’s middle order. Shanaka then accelerated the scoring with a blistering cameo, helping the co-hosts finish strongly.

In response, Oman struggled from the outset, losing early wickets and failing to keep up with the required run rate. Despite a fighting fifty from Mohammad Nadeem, Oman managed only 120 for the loss of several wickets in 20 overs. Sri Lankan bowlers, including Maheesh Theekshana and Dushmantha Chameera, maintained pressure throughout.

The defeat leaves Oman on the brink of elimination, while Sri Lanka now prepare for a crucial Group B clash against Australia on February 16.
