A tragic accident occurred near Hatadwara village on the Khordha-Bolangir National Highway on Sunday, when a speeding Hyva truck hit Gobinda Nayak, a local resident, killing him instantly.
Reports stated that Gobinda was sitting by the roadside when the truck, allegedly moving out of control, struck him. In response, villagers detained the driver and handed him over to the police. Angered by the incident, locals staged a blockade on the highway, demanding proper compensation for the victim’s family and strict action against the driver.
Police arrived at the scene to calm the protesters and launched an investigation into the accident. Traffic on the busy highway was temporarily disrupted due to the blockade, causing inconvenience to commuters.
