Odisha’s rich and diverse handloom heritage took center stage at the ‘Swa-Tanta’ fashion show, part of Sisir Saras-2026, where tradition met modernity on the ramp. The event showcased a seamless fusion of age-old craftsmanship and contemporary fashion, earning widespread admiration from visitors and fashion enthusiasts.
Organised by ORMAS in association with Subhadra Shakti at the exhibition ground in Bhubaneswar, the show provided a platform to highlight the creativity of designers and the exceptional skill of local artisans, while emphasising the continued relevance of traditional textiles in modern lifestyles.
The collections featured an array of Odisha’s iconic handloom and handicraft traditions, including elegant Sonepuri fabrics, distinctive Kotpad textiles, intricate Dhokra pieces, and vibrant Dongria embroidery, all reimagined in contemporary designs that balanced heritage with innovation. Sustainability and the integration of traditional crafts into current fashion trends remained a key focus throughout the show.
Adding glamour to the event, popular Ollywood actors Prakruti Mishra, Swapna Priyadarshini, BM Vaishali, and Suryamayi Mohapatra walked the ramp in handloom ensembles, drawing public attention and celebrating Odisha’s indigenous textiles.
