New Delhi: Security agencies have heightened alert levels across the national capital after intelligence inputs suggested a possible terror threat targeting key locations in Old Delhi. According to sources, sensitive areas near the Red Fort and Chandni Chowk are under special watch following warnings of a potential attack.

Reports indicate that the alert is based on inputs suggesting that extremist elements may attempt an improvised explosive device (IED) attack in crowded and high-profile areas. Religious sites in and around Chandni Chowk are also believed to be among the possible targets, prompting enhanced security arrangements.

Following the alert, Delhi Police along with central security agencies have stepped up surveillance across sensitive zones. Additional personnel have been deployed in crowded marketplaces and heritage locations, while anti-sabotage checks and patrols have been intensified. Authorities are also monitoring suspicious activities closely to prevent any untoward incident.

Officials believe that prominent public and religious locations could remain vulnerable, and precautionary measures are being taken accordingly. Security agencies have urged the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious movement.

The renewed alert also comes in the backdrop of past security incidents in the national capital, which have led to tighter preventive measures. Authorities have emphasized that all necessary steps are being taken to ensure public safety and maintain law and order.

Security agencies continue to assess the threat and coordinate with intelligence units to track any developments. Meanwhile, heightened security arrangements are expected to remain in place until further review.
