Puri railway station infrastructure upgrade work affecting train services in Odisha

Puri Railway Station Upgrade: Train Services to be Disrupted from March 11 to May 16

Train services to and from Puri will face partial disruption from March 11 to May 16 due to infrastructure upgrade work at Puri Railway Station. Over 30 trains will be short-terminated or short-originated, while passengers will be provided bus connectivity from nearby stations.

Railway services to and from Puri will be partially disrupted for more than two months as infrastructure upgrade work is scheduled atPuri Railway Station. The changes will come into effect fromMarch 11 and continue until May 16, impacting passenger movement betweenKhurda Road and Puri stations.

According to officials ofEast Coast Railway (ECoR), more than30 trainsthat usually originate from or terminate at Puri will beshort-terminated or short-originatedduring this period to facilitate the infrastructure improvement work.

The railway authorities have set a target to complete the upgrade work before theannual Rath Yatra festival in Puri, which attracts lakhs of devotees from across India.

Trains To Operate From Alternate Stations

During the construction period, several trains will operate from nearby stations instead of Puri.

Trains operating from Sakhigopal station:

Lokmanya Tilak Terminus–Puri Express
Gandhidham–Puri Express
Kamakhya–Puri Express
Tirupati–Puri Express
Sealdah–Puri Duronto Express
Valsad–Puri Express
Sambalpur–Puri Intercity Express

These trains willoriginate and terminate at Sakhigopal stationinstead of Puri.

Trains operating from Bir Purushottampur station:

Indore–Puri Express
Sri Ganganagar–Puri Express
Kamakhya–Puri Express
Jaleswar–Puri MEMU

Trains operating from Khurda Road station:

Rourkela–Puri Express
Talcher–Puri MEMU

Meanwhile,Howrah–Puri Express and Puri–Howrah Expresswill beshort-terminated at Malatipatpur station.

Temporary Measures for Passengers

Railway officials stated that these temporary changes are necessary tospeed up infrastructure development at Puri Railway Stationbefore the upcoming Rath Yatra.

To reduce inconvenience for passengers,bus services will be arranged between Puri and nearby stations such as Sakhigopal, Bir Purushottampur, Khurda Road and Malatipatpur.

Passengers are advised tocheck train schedules and station details before travelling during this period.
