Filmmaker Anurag Basu, who has worked closely with Arijit Singh, shared his perspective on the announcement. Speaking to BBC Hindi, Basu said he was not surprised by Singh’s decision, explaining that the singer has always been driven by curiosity and a desire to pursue new challenges. Basu revealed that Arijit once requested to assist him on the set ofBarfi, demonstrating the singer’s longstanding interest in filmmaking.
Despite stepping away from playback singing, Arijit reassured fans that he plans to continue making music, returning to Indian classical music and completing pending projects. The singer also expressed excitement about emerging talent in the industry, emphasizing his support for the next generation of playback artists.
