The investigation into the death of a young woman in Paradip has taken a serious and disturbing turn, with police suspecting sexual assault and murder. The woman’s body was recovered from beneath a four-storey residential building in the Tarinigada area of Paradip, located in Jagatsinghpur district of Odisha, triggering widespread shock and anger among local residents.
Initially, the case was registered as an unnatural death. However, fresh leads emerged after investigators examined CCTV footage from surrounding areas. According to police sources, the footage provided crucial visual clues that helped reconstruct the sequence of events prior to the incident.
Preliminary findings suggest that the woman had visited the Sarala Temple on the evening of the incident along with a male friend. Following an alleged disagreement, she reportedly decided not to accompany him further and was later seen standing along the Cuttack–Paradip road.
Police suspect that a non-Odia youth approached her during this time and offered her a lift. Investigators believe the accused took her to his rented accommodation in the Tarinigada building, from where her body was later recovered.
Based on current findings, police suspect that the woman was sexually assaulted and subsequently pushed from the rooftop in an attempt to stage the crime as an accidental fall. The accused has been detained and is currently being interrogated.
