Paradip Port in Odisha Marks Its 65th Foundation Day

Paradip Port celebrated its 65th Foundation Day with a marathon that saw enthusiastic participation from youth and fitness lovers, highlighting its legacy while promoting health and unity.

Paradip Port today celebrated its 65th Foundation Day, marking a significant milestone in the history of one of Odisha’s most important ports. The occasion was observed with enthusiasm and a sense of pride in the port’s enduring legacy and contribution to maritime trade.

As part of the celebrations, a marathon was organised, drawing participation from youths, fitness enthusiasts, port officials, workers, and local residents. The event aimed to promote health, unity, and community spirit while honouring the port’s long-standing service. The collective participation made the celebration vibrant and meaningful.

Paradip Port was established on January 3, 1962, and has since played a vital role in strengthening Odisha’s and India’s maritime trade. The foundation stone was laid by India’s first Prime Minister, Jawaharlal Nehru, underlining the port’s national significance. It was later formally inaugurated on March 12, 1966, by the then Prime Minister of Yugoslavia, Petar Stambolić.

Speaking on the occasion, Paradip Port Chairman P. L. Haranadh said that the marathon has become an annual tradition on the foundation day. He noted that 336 participants took part this year and extended his congratulations to port staff, exporters, reporters, and all stakeholders.

Over the decades, Paradip Port has emerged as a major hub for bulk cargo handling, contributing significantly to industrial growth and employment generation in the region. On the foundation day, port authorities also highlighted ongoing development projects and reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening infrastructure and improving services.

The celebrations reflected pride in Paradip Port’s rich heritage and its continued role in supporting Odisha’s economic development.
