Odisha Vigilance on Wednesday conducted simultaneous searches at five locations associated with a junior assistant working at the District Headquarters Hospital (DHH), Angul, in connection with the alleged misappropriation of government funds amounting to Rs 2.38 crore.
The action follows the registration of Cuttack Vigilance Police Station Case No. 06/2026 under the Prevention of Corruption Act against Subrat Kumar Behera, a Junior Assistant in the office of the Chief District Medical Officer (CDMO), Angul.
According to official sources, the searches were carried out on February 11 by multiple vigilance teams led by five Deputy Superintendents of Police, assisted by eight Inspectors, 14 Assistant Sub-Inspectors, and other supporting staff.
Raids were conducted at Behera’s triple-storey residential building at Hakimpada in Angul town, his relative’s house at Bonda village under Nalco Nagar police limits, his ancestral home at Baunsapokhari in Hindol area of Dhenkanal district, a rented residence of his cousin at Shree Vihar in Bhubaneswar, and his office chamber at the CDMO office in Angul.
During the searches, Vigilance officials reportedly seized important documents, bank passbooks, bonds, and other financial records for detailed examination.
Officials stated that the search operations were ongoing and more information would be shared once the investigation is completed. Further developments in the case are awaited.
