The Odisha government has sought central assistance for setting up a world-class Science City in Bhubaneswar. State Science and Technology Minister Krushna Chandra Patra met Union Minister for Science and Technology Jitendra Singh in New Delhi on Wednesday to discuss the proposal and other scientific initiatives.
During the meeting, Patra informed the Union Minister that 100 acres of land have already been identified for the ambitious project in Bhubaneswar. The proposed Science City is envisioned as a state-of-the-art interactive science hub featuring advanced exhibits, immersive learning spaces, and modern facilities aimed at promoting scientific temper and inspiring young minds across the state.
According to reports, Patra thanked the Centre for its continued support in transforming Odisha into a major scientific and industrial hub. In response, Jitendra Singh reportedly assured full cooperation, stating that Odisha’s advancement in science and technology would contribute to the broader national vision of ‘Viksit Bharat’.
Recently, Patra visited the Science City project in Patna to study its infrastructure and design model. During his visit, he interacted with officials and held detailed discussions with Bihar authorities to understand best practices in developing such a large-scale scientific institution.
Following the visit, Patra stated that a delegation of officials from Bihar would visit Odisha to share their expertise and provide technical guidance for the upcoming project.
