Odisha remains in the grip of a biting cold wave as minimum temperatures continue to fall across multiple regions. IMD has warned that the chilly conditions are likely to persist for at least two more weeks, fueled by dry, cold winds sweeping in from the north. Dense fog and cold winds have intensified public discomfort, with 24 towns recording temperatures of 10°C or below.
The season’s lowest temperature was recorded in G Udayagiri at 2.5°C, followed by Semiliguda at 3.2°C and Phulbani at 5°C. Rourkela and Jharsuguda reported 5.4°C and 5.8°C, respectively. Bhubaneswar also faced extreme cold as the mercury dipped to 9.4°C — its coldest night since 2012, when it hit 9.3°C. Authorities have urged residents to take precautions, especially during early morning and late night hours.
