During the Republic Day celebrations in Cuttack, Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Majhi asserted that crimes against women will not be tolerated under any circumstances. Emphasising that women make up nearly half of the state’s population, he said their safety and dignity are the government’s top priority.
Majhi noted that conviction rates in cases of violence against women have improved due to stricter law enforcement. He also highlighted welfare initiatives such as the Subhadra scheme and the Lakhpati Didi programme, which focus on women’s economic empowerment.
