Odisha on Monday celebrated the 150th anniversary of the iconic patriotic songVande Mataramwith a state-wide mass rendition across schools, colleges, and universities. At 11 am, students, teachers, and staff joined in singing the song simultaneously as part of the commemorative programme.
The event was organised under the directives of the Odia Language, Literature and Culture Department, with district collectors ensuring smooth and orderly conduct across the state.
At Fakir Mohan Junior College in Balasore, over 300 students and faculty members actively participated, alongside quizzes and competitions highlighting the significance of the occasion. Following the rendition, participants took a collective pledge to promote Swadeshi values and preserve India’s cultural heritage, emphasizing the role of youth in shaping a stronger and inclusive nation.
Reports from across Odisha indicated enthusiastic participation, with the programme conducted peacefully in accordance with official guidelines. The mass rendition not only celebrated a historic milestone in India’s national and cultural history but also aimed to instil a sense of pride, unity, and cultural awareness among students.
