Odisha Approves Rs 29,900 Crore Hydropower Projects and Rs 1,622 Crore Telecom Investment

Odisha clears four major pumped-storage hydropower projects worth over Rs 29,900 crore to boost renewable energy capacity. Additionally, a Rs 1,622 crore telecom project in Puri aims to enhance digital infrastructure and connectivity along the eastern coast.

The Odisha government has approved four large pumped-storage hydropower projects with a combined investment of over Rs 29,900 crore, signaling a major push toward renewable energy expansion and grid stability. The projects include:

  • Adani Hydro Energy Twelve Limited– Rs 9,731.47 crore in Nayagarh district

  • Sangamam CD Hydro Consortium– Rs 9,000 crore in Koraput

  • Greenko OR01 IREP Private Limited– Rs 7,506.94 crore in Kalahandi

  • Jindal Green PSP Two Pvt Ltd– Rs 3,711.56 crore in Deogarh

These initiatives are expected to strengthen Odisha’s power infrastructure and facilitate the integration of renewable energy into the grid.

In parallel, Shreetech Data Limited-CLS will invest Rs 1,622 crore to establish a cable landing station in Puri, enhancing high-speed data connectivity and positioning Odisha as a strategic digital gateway on the eastern coast. Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi emphasized timely execution and coordinated departmental efforts to ensure all approved projects are completed efficiently.
