In a swift operation, Delhi Police rescued a three-day-old baby boy who was kidnapped from Dr Baba Saheb Ambedkar Hospital in Rohini, Delhi. The incident took place on February 17, when a woman who had gained the mother’s trust allegedly abducted the newborn from the hospital’s labour room.
The baby’s mother, who had delivered the child on February 14, told police that the suspect had been visiting her frequently during her hospital stay. On the day of the incident, the woman took the baby in her lap and asked the mother to rest. When the mother woke up, both the baby and the suspect were missing.
Police registered a case and launched an immediate investigation. Multiple teams analysed CCTV footage, questioned hospital staff, and used technical surveillance to track the suspects.
The infant was successfully rescued from the Delhi-Meerut Expressway and found with two accused — a woman and a young man — who were arrested. Police said further investigation is ongoing to determine the motive and whether others were involved.
