Navya Naveli Nanda, granddaughter of Amitabh Bachchan and Jaya Bachchan, recently spoke candidly about the challenges of being in the public eye and handling social media criticism. In an interview withVariety India, she revealed that while negativity online is unavoidable, she consciously avoids letting it affect her self-perception.
“I try not to give in to what I see on social media. I have faced my fair share of hate… but I try not to let it get to me because my belief is that I actively chose to be on social media as a public figure because of the work that I do,” Navya explained. She emphasized that her digital presence is primarily focused on professional and social initiatives, particularly development and non-profit work, rather than her private life. She sees constructive feedback as valuable but draws a firm boundary when it comes to letting public opinion define her identity.
Navya also addressed assumptions about her personality, noting that despite her frequent public appearances, she is “very shy” and “a massive introvert.” Her interviews and panel discussions, she said, sometimes give an impression of her that differs from her off-camera reality.
Daughter of Shweta Bachchan Nanda and Nikhil Nanda, Navya continues to pursue entrepreneurship and social impact projects. Her younger brother, Agastya Nanda, recently made his film debut with Zoya Akhtar’sThe Archies. Through her work and measured online presence, Navya demonstrates a balance between public engagement and personal authenticity.
