A month-old baby girl, allegedly sold by her parents, was rescued by Bhadrak police from Cuttack on Wednesday and admitted to the district headquarters hospital (DHH) in Bhadrak for medical examination. The rescue was carried out by Bhandaripokhari police following a complaint from the infant’s grandmother, who alleged that her son and daughter-in-law had taken the baby under the pretext of a hospital visit but returned without her.
Police traced the child to Cuttack, and after her rescue, she was handed over to the Child Welfare Committee (CWC) for further care and protection. Authorities have launched a detailed investigation into the alleged sale, with the CWC scheduled to discuss the matter in its upcoming meeting.
