On National Youth Day, senior Cuttack leader Mohammed Moquim demonstrated his political strength by mobilising a large number of youths, indicating the groundwork for his proposed new political party in Odisha. The programme was aimed at energising young supporters ahead of the party’s formal launch.
Barabati-Cuttack Congress MLA and Moquim’s daughter, Sofia Firdous, attended the event as chief guest, lending political significance to the gathering. AISF state president Sanghamitra Jena was also present, reflecting wider youth and student participation.
Addressing the media, Moquim stressed that Odisha’s progress depends on the active role of its youth. He announced that the new party would be officially launched in March, stating that evolving political challenges and the aspirations of young people call for a fresh platform in the state.
Speaking on behalf of the Moquim Foundation, he called upon young leaders and organisers from various districts, particularly from coastal Odisha, to come together for what he described as a necessary political revolution. He highlighted Odisha’s language-based formation and the legacy of leaders like Madhusudan Das and Gopabandhu Das.
Moquim further noted that as Odisha approaches 100 years of statehood by 2036, renewed efforts and collective action are needed to elevate the state’s standing and work towards making it one of the leading states in the country.
