A major fire incident occurred late Sunday night in Jeypore city of Koraput district after a scrap warehouse located opposite Vikram Dev University caught fire around midnight.
According to preliminary reports, the flames rapidly spread throughout the premises due to the presence of highly inflammable materials such as polythene and assorted scrap items stored inside the warehouse. Eyewitnesses reported seeing towering flames and thick plumes of smoke rising into the night sky, creating panic in the surrounding residential areas.
Local residents were the first to notice the fire and promptly alerted the fire department. Multiple fire tenders were dispatched to the scene, and firefighters, with assistance from locals, worked extensively to control and contain the blaze. Their swift response helped prevent the fire from spreading to nearby buildings and establishments.
Fortunately, no injuries or casualties have been reported so far. Authorities are expected to carry out a detailed investigation to determine the exact cause of the fire and evaluate the extent of property damage. Further updates are awaited as officials continue their assessment.
