A tragic incident was reported from Karanjakua village under Mohana police station limits in Gajapati district, Odisha, where a man allegedly killed his younger brother following a domestic dispute. The deceased has been identified as Libu Mallik, while his elder brother Gobinda Mallik has been detained for questioning.
According to reports, Libu, an autorickshaw driver, returned home in an intoxicated state and allegedly assaulted his wife, Rajani Mallik. Gobinda intervened to stop the assault, which led to a heated argument and physical fight between the two brothers. During the altercation, Libu Mallik died on the spot.
Police reached the scene after receiving information, seized the body, and began an investigation. The deceased’s wife later filed a formal complaint, stating that frequent domestic disputes and alcohol-related violence had been ongoing issues.
Authorities said the exact cause of death and sequence of events will be confirmed after further investigation, including post-mortem examination and questioning of the accused.
